Gaining fat too?, Nov 26, 2010

reviewer: Ryan from AZ, USA

Fat, although shunned by some, is a highly concentrated energy source (double that of protein or carbohydrates). Fat is also a necessary component of all cell membranes, nerve covering, digestive secretions, and most importantly, hormone production. A diet too low in fats may actually IMPAIR growth. For these reasons, small amounts of fat are contained in N-Large 2 Mass Gainer Whey Protein. So for all of you skeptics that say GNC Gainer is better because there is less fat, the varies from person to person. If you are 6"1\' and weigh 145 lbs, you are obviously a twig and should stick with Pro Lab. On the other hand if you aready have a mediocre body fat percentage of lets say 15%+ or so, (some ppl just can\'t get lower without literally starving themselves), then stick with the GNC Gainer or another product with less fat in it so you can continue to gain weight prodominantly in the form in muscle. |

This was the first weight gainer product i tried. Taste wise it is more than bearable and especialyl with milk actually tastes quite nice. Strawberry flavour is definitely the best.
However those with IBS bewarned..
It assimilates relatively easily in comparison to some other weight gainers but won't form a perfect mixture unless a blender is used.
As for the results well it certainly does the job of giving you gains wihtout putting on much fat especially when complemented with correct dieting strategy. Being easy to take down it shouldnt be a problem to take this twice or more daily.
Especially given its high calorific content and 50+ grams of protein per full serving this stands out as one of the best weight gianers on the market. In comparison to some others that I have used such as MassFX I'd say that this is of a far greater quality.
Happy holidays and good luck with the insane mass gains. |

Don't use it as a crutch, build around high quality carbs, Sep 25, 2006

I've been taking N-Large2 for about a year. I got really good results in the first few months when I combined it with working out 3x a week and getting enough rest; the results trailed off from there. I've gained about 15 pounds of muscle so far.
I usually mix 2 scoops of N-Large with 2 servings of oatmeal(yes 2 servings of uncooked oatmeal, just put it in the blender) This replaces some of the protein (you won't need all that protein anyway, and honestly you should get some 100% optimum whey for after workouts anyway) with one of the best whole grain sources of carbs.
The chocolate is much better than the vanilla. Definitely start with chocolate and cycle it out with vanilla if you're going to take it for a while. I've tried Optimum 100% whey and pro-lab and the later is by far better.
I use NO-Xplode before workouts (just started last week) 2 servings of 100% optimum whey blended with 2 servings of oatmeal right after workouts and 2 scoops of n-large with 2 servings of oatmeal between meals.
I think the bottom line is that if you're trying to gain weight you just need to eat more. N-Large can help but don't use it as a crutch to stand on, use it more like a knee brace to keep you on track. I recently added a pasta meal in the middle of the day, I recommend that you figure out where you can squeeze in extra healthy calories.
Quick review of my meal plan, this will help you more than my review if you're trying to gain weight.(i'm lucky to fit this around my work and college schedule):
6:30 NO-Xplode
8:30 100% optimum (2scoops) oatmeal (2servings)
10:30 2 cups (not servings) of whole wheat pasta
1:00 n-large2 (2scoops) oatmeal (2servings)
5:30 n-large2 (2scoops) oatmeal (2servings)
6:00 tuna sandwich, large head of brocolli, 1 apple, yogurt
8:00 2 cups (not servings) of whole wheat pasta
9:00 n-large2 (2scoops) oatmeal (2servings) |

I have used many hard gaining products over the years and Nlarge is the second to last WORST product, the very last is weider's weight gainer.
I felt Nlarge was full of empty calories and sugar. For those who are skeptical, yes i do know how to supplement and exercise!!!
There are tons of weight gainer garbage on the market and the only one i reccommend even though i hate the company is GNC's weight gainers. For whey's go with optimum's 100%. |

This is the first weight gainer that i have tried but it seems to get the job done. I have already put on 6lbs in the last month without too much fat. It tastes terrible and doesn't mix as well as i would have liked but it works so i'll stick with it. |

i've been using n-large for just a couple of weeks, and i'm already seeing results. even my officemates noticed that im packing on weight. for ectomorphs like me, this product is the best.
as for the taste, i bought the choco flavor and it goes well with milk and ice.
however, im quite worried that if i stop taking it, i would lose everything i gained as quickly as i put them on. its quite expensive here in the philippines. i shelled out about $40 for the 3.8lb tub. but i don't mind paying for it as long as it delivers what it promises.
what do you guys think? |

So far, I've put on 5lb's in one week. I've been drinking 4 milkshakes with 4 scoops of NLarge2 also mixed with whole milk and 3 scoops of icecream. The taste is horrible (vanilla). I have to take it in a chugging fashion or there's no way its going down my throat. Fortunately, it doesn't make you feel bloated at all. And it does put on lb's fast. And just on appearance, it doesn't look like much fat was put on. |

I bought the chocolate and it tastes great so I have no clue what you people are talking about. I only take 2 scoops at a time with 2 cups of 1% milk and glutamine. It is a little thick, but just put in more milk. I take it once a day after a workout and I've gained 5 lbs in 12 days. Although I notice I have gained a small ammount of body fat (previously very very low, still low, but noticed a change in appearance).
I do not train for bodybuilding. |

I don't understand why peolpe don't like the taste of this stuff. It taste great to me! Just like a chocolate shake! only this will put some serious weight on you. For the prise and the amount of protien you get per serving it's tough to beat. It definitly put some weight on me, but I may have been taking to much, cause some of it was fat. I think i'll take just two serving instead of the recommended 4 scoops per serving this month. |

This is the 2nd brand weight gain product for me. After using the Optimum Serious Mass , i turned to NLarge2 due to many good reviews available on web. I rate 4 stars on its ability for gaining weight, it works nice only that it gives more fat then my previous Serious Mass. Fine, acceptable! I rate 0 stars for its taste, it sucks !! Everytime i take it is a nightmare ~~ The chucking after taste is horrible, dunno how to say ~~ Overall , I regret buying it and i will suggest any one who wanna buy it , pls taste it before !! |

I would have to agree and say after using it for 4 weeks it works. However after I gained 10 lbs. in one month, I stoped using the product still remained at the gym and lost it all. To wrap things up it works, but you will need to keep buying it, and keep taking it 2-3 time a day for as long as you want the weight on, otherwise you will drop it faster then you gained it. |

This stuff actually makes me feel sick. It smells bad and tastes bad. Maybe chocolate tastes better. My GNC weight gainer tastes better than N Large 2. |

Worked for me - THE hardest gainer, Jan 24, 2005
|
reviewer: Joe from Omaha

Last January I started this stuff right after the new year with a dedicated 4 day a week work out schedule. Monday-chest, Tuesday-arms, Wednesday-Shoulders, Thursday-Back. I didn't even do legs. (Bad boy, I know) I have lifted for years on and off but had no significant gains. I was 6'1 and 145 lbs. I was a twig. I drank two scoops, four times a day with whole milk while eating normal meals and I gained a solid 20 lbs of muscle in ONE month. I grew very fast and it was a tremendoes confidence booster. However, after a few more weeks my gains completely stopped. I went one whole month without gaining a single pound. A nutritionist told me that my body developed a tolerance for those calories and I needed to take it even MORE. Yea right. As if that was possible without me barfing. This stuff works if you use it in a dedicated fashion. EVERY day. I took two scoops when I woke up, after working out and lunch, when I got home from work, and before I went to bed. |

It tastes horrible, but I guess that is my preference. (I had vanilla)
If you mix the actual serving, 4 scoops, you are basically drinking syrup. The mixture also clumps at the bottom, but it is not too bad.
This was my first weight gainer, so I don't have much to compare it to. However, it does have the calories that it needs, and I did gain weight, so ill give it a three. |
